Thirty Years of Standing Guard… and Then Some!
by Frank Luncheon
Picture this: it’s 1996. Cell phones are the size of bricks, “walkie-talkies” are still the hottest communication technology on the job, and one ambitious company is looking for its next big challenge.
That company was Federal Management Systems, headquartered in Washington, D.C., under the leadership of Mr. Aubrey A. Stephenson. When the opportunity came to provide local guard services to the Embassy of the United States of America in Guyana, FMS didn’t just answer the call—it showed up ready for duty.
What started with one important contract became the beginning of an incredible journey.
Of course, every great success story begins with a little organized chaos.
Leaders had to be chosen. Guards had to be recruited and trained. Duty rosters had to be created. Communication systems had to be built. Procedures had to be written. Discipline had to become second nature.
It was a whirlwind—and more than a few walkie-talkies probably got quite a workout!
But vision, determination, and plenty of hard work turned challenges into opportunities. Smart planning, innovative thinking, competitive wages and benefits, and an unwavering commitment to excellence laid the foundation for something much bigger than anyone imagined.
Success didn’t stop at one embassy.
The reputation earned on that first contract opened doors to providing security services for other embassies, businesses, organizations, and private residences. FMS continued to innovate, expanding into armed security services and proving that professionalism and reliability never go out of style.
Then came another chapter.
Why stop at security when you can also serve fresh bread?
FMS diversified into new ventures, including a bakery, café, and other successful businesses, demonstrating that protecting people wasn’t the only thing the company could do exceptionally well.
Along the way, Guyana presented its share of challenges—from floods and changing times to an evolving business landscape. Yet every obstacle became another opportunity to adapt, innovate, and move forward.
Thirty years later, Federal Management Systems Guyana has grown into a dynamic, multifaceted enterprise that continues to create employment, invest in its people, and contribute meaningfully to the educational, cultural, and economic life of Guyana.
Today, we celebrate not just thirty years of business, but thirty years of resilience, innovation, opportunity, and service.
Thirty years of building careers.
Thirty years of earning trust.
Thirty years of answering every challenge with a solution.
And after three decades, we’re still standing guard—over our clients, our reputation, and our commitment to excellence.
Congratulations to Federal Management Systems Guyana on this remarkable milestone. To our dedicated staff and leadership—thank you for your passion and professionalism. To our many clients and customers—thank you for your trust and continued support.
Here’s to the next thirty years of protecting, growing, serving, and creating opportunities for the people of Guyana.
